Meet Gordon

Hello everyone! Today we would like to introduce you to Gordon.

Gordon was a hairdresser, and Salon owner, as well as a cosmetology instructor. He touched many people’s lives over the course of his career. He was a people person through and through. Gordon always would see the good in everyone he met and was constantly encouraging them to reach their full potential. He believed in people and tried to be there for them in whatever way he could along each step of their journey. He was very passionate about taking care of people and always was willing to step in and advocate for someone if they needed it.

Gordon had a love for sports, especially the  Dodgers, and was always willing to throw around a football. He was a history buff and originally had gone to college to be a history teacher before going to cosmetology school. He was married to his high school sweetheart Audra, and they had three children whom he loved dearly. He dedicated his life to his students and his children, teaching them to believe in their dreams and to always care for others.

In 2015 he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He fought long and hard, inspiring many people along the way with his ability to stay positive and put others first, even with everything he had going on. He taught people to “Thrive Through” your struggles with a smile on your face and love in your heart. In 2018 his fight was over. He left behind his mother, three brothers, his wife, and his three children.

Gordon is very important to us, as he is the inspiration for The Process Salon. You see, his son Gehrig is our salon owner. When Gehrig lost his dad he felt lost. He was halfway through cosmetology school, following in his parents footsteps and felt like he had just lost his dad, his best friend, biggest advocate, and fiercest protector. It was a feeling he wouldn’t wish on anyone and will never forget. After “Thriving Through” the stages of grief, he realized wanted to do something to make his dad proud. He grew up watching the way his dad cared for others through hair, education, and the “ Thrive Through” culture he created everywhere he went. Gehrig decided then and there he wanted to create a place that embodied his father behaviors and what he believed in. A space that took care of people the way his dad always did. A judgment free salon environment where clients and stylists alike, can be fully themselves and would be welcomed, listened to, and celebrated, so The Process Salon was born. Though Gordon may no longer be with us, his legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren and The Process Salon.

Thank you for taking the time to join us in honoring Gordon.
