Extension Q&A

Welcome to the hair of your dreams

What are hand-tied extensions?

Hand-tied wefts are thin and lightweight making them ideal for everyday wear while remaining undetectable.

To create each row of extensions, we use a horseshoe section and put small sub-sections of your hair in beads. This creates the foundation onto which the wefts are sewn. Multiple hand-tied wefts are used to customize the color for the best possible blend.

What method do you do?

We use a hidden bead method where the wefts are sandwiched on either side of the beaded foundation, then sewn together. This method is gentle on the scalp and allows you to wear your hair up with confidence and without worry of your extensions showing.

Who can wear extensions?

Our extension method is ideal for most hair types and lengths, shoulder length or longer. Some shorter lengths can also utilize extensions for added thickness. We can determine how many rows are needed for your desired density and length in a complimentary consultation.

How long does the hair last?

The life of your hair extensions is ultimately dependent upon your at home care routine. Extension hair will typically need to be replaced after 6 to 9 months of use, but some guests have gone longer with diligent care.

How often do I have to come in for maintenance?

Because your extensions will grow out as your hair grows, we recommend move ups every 8 weeks. At your appointment, we will take out the extensions and comb out any hair shed that has occurred in your beaded foundation before re-installing them, It is normal to see light shedding during your appointment. Iron styling is included at your move up appointments, but a shampoo and blow dry must be added as an additional appointment, if desired.

Will it blend with my hair?

During our initial consultation, we will sit down together and color match your hair with our Covet and Mane samples, and determine which shade(s) and length are best for you.

At your installation appointment, we provide a custom cut to help seamlessly blend the extensions into your natural hair. Guests with dimensional and multi-tonal hair colors may need their extensions root shadowed so the color is seamless against their natural root. We include this with your installation, if needed.

Can I wear my hair up with extensions?

Absolutely! Because we place hand-tied wefts on either side of your beaded foundation, it will blend just as seamlessly when flipped up into a ponytail or bun, as it does when your hair is down.

Can you get them wet?

It is not recommended to submerge your extensions in pool, ocean, lake water, etc. This can cause discoloration and matting. For best results, wear your hair high and avoid getting it wet.

How do I wash my new extensions?

We recommend always using a sulfate free, salon quality shampoo and conditioner. You can shampoo your row(s) of extensions where they make contact with your scalp at the roots, and remember to shampoo on top and underneath each row!

Will it damage my hair?

Extensions do not cause damage or hair loss when they’re installed and maintained properly. At each maintenance appointment, we completely remove your extensions so we can examine your scalp and maintain its health, then re-install and re-position them slightly, so the weight on your scalp is redistributed.

Will the installation hurt?

The installation process is very gentle and generally does not cause any discomfort. There may be minimal soreness the first few days due to the additional weight of the hair. Any soreness will dissipate after the first few days, and can be treated with an OTC pain reliever.

How much is the investment?

Our pricing can be found here, and is dependent on your current canvas and desired goal. Most of our guests wear 1 to 2 rows, but 3 or more can be necessary for major corrections or dramatic transformations.
